The Journal of China Libraries

An international journal of library and information science in China

This new title is an independent journal for all those concerned with China librarianship and information science. It aims to provide an international communication link between researchers, educators, administrators, and information professionals. It will publish academic research from or about the world of China library and information science; and the results of research applied in libraries and information centres. It will maintain a balance between theory and practice.

The journal scope encompasses all the academic and professional areas of librarianship and information science, including but not limited to:

  • Information society
  • Library management
  • Human information behaviour
  • Information technology
  • Information and knowledge management
  • Records management and archiving
  • Information and library services
  • National and international information policy
  • Library and information education (teaching and learning)
  • IT and information literacies.
  • Telecommunications.

To submit an article

The manuscript must be provided as an attached file to an e-mail (chinalibraries@mail.las.ac.cn). Once accepted for publication, the author must ensure that the article is complete, grammatically correct and without spelling or typographical errors. The Journal of China Libraries features a double-blind peer review process.

Manuscript requirements

Articles should be submitted as e-mail attachments in Word or Rich Text Format. Where there is not possible, please send three hard copies of manuscript to the editor in double line spacing with wide margins. All authors should be shown and author’s details must be printed on a separate sheet and the author should not be identified anywhere else in the article.

As a guide, articles should be between 3,000 and 10,000 words in length.

A title of not more than eight words should be provided.

A brief autobiographical note should be supplied including full name, affiliation, e-mail address and full international contact details.

The preferred order of paper is as follows: title, author name(s), affiliation, structured abstract (250words), key words, content, reference.

Headings and Subheadings should be included to make the paper more readable.

All Figures(charts, diagrams and line drawings) and Plates(photographic images)should be submitted in both electronic form and hard copy originals. Figures should be of clear quality, black and white and numbered consecutively with arabic numerals. Tables should be typed and included as part of the manuscript. They must be numbered consecutively with arabic numerals and a brief title.

References to other publications must be conform to the national rules for reference description GB/T7714-2005 and carefully checked for completeness, accuracy and consistency. All references appearing in the bibliography section must be cited in consecutive number in the text of the manuscript.
